Critical Thinking (Notes)

This blog will look at critical thinking. Firstly, what is critical thinking, what are the barriers, the personal qualities associated with critical thinking, benefits of employing good critical thinking and finally, assess current understanding of critical thinking.

In essence, critical thinking can be developed through practice and study. The practice of critical thinking is the cognitive process of study in any field. Using attributes such as attention, concentration and reasoning-to derive a conclusion which is based on factual evidence collected.

Constraints which prevent people from critical thinking can be varied. These would include environmental issues which prevent a person from getting the ideal conditions to pay attention. More personal reasons for a lack of concentration, such as emotional and personal barriers may prevent critical thinking from taking place. Structures to learning can have a detrimental impact on the learning process.
